The Nintendo Switch has been a big success for gamers and Nintendo alike, but porn sites haven’t been so thrilled with the release of the new console. According to a new report from YouPorn, the launch of the Nintendo Switch weekend saw traffic decline on those days pretty significantly.
YouPorn tracks anonymized data from its visitors to better determine what real world events are having an effect on their traffic fluctuation. Holidays, TV series finales, and movie premieres can all effect how much traffic the site gets, but what’s interesting is just how much YouPorn was affected by the Switch launch.
Friday March 3, traffic dropped 15% from normal. The following Saturday traffic was down 17% and on that Sunday of launch weekend, traffic was down 13%. YouPorn says this is the lowest numbers the site has seen in the last 30 days.
The funniest part about this whole story? Those who were actually still looking for porn on those days were specifically searching for The Legend of Zelda porn. The site says searches for Link were up 164% over the weekend, while searches for Zelda were up 102%.
