One of the great things about the Nintendo Switch is that, for certain games, two players can use either Joy-Con for multiplayer fun. Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition is not one of those games, unfortunately.
In a pre-release preview of Minecraft from Ars Technica, they noted that you’ll need two analog sticks to adventure around the world of Minecraft. As we know, each Joy-Con only has one analog stick, thereby limiting the control options for this game. If you want to do local, splitscreen multiplayer, you’ll either need two sets of Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller for each player.
Ars also states that regardless of how many players are currently active on one device, the frame rate and resolution are solid.
Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition launches tomorrow on the Switch eShop. A retail copy will be available at a later date.
