Last week we saw a strong debut for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Japan, which in turn boosted Nintendo Switch hardware sales. The latest results from Media Create are now out and provide some interesting updates on whatâs hot and whatâs not in the country.
The software charts lack any big hitting new releases this week, opening the door for Nintendoâs kart racer to hold top spot. In fact, the top 9 has three Switch titles and six on 3DS, showing that Nintendoâs hardware is currently benefitting from a number of âevergreenâ titles. The top 20 is below, with lifetime sales in brackets.
Moving on to hardware, the Nintendo Switch reverts back to its âstandardâ sales of a little under 50,000 after a previous boost led by MK8 Deluxe; supplies to stores may be having a constraining effect, too. Itâs still comfortably in the lead, and then the New 3DS LL (XL) narrowly misses out on second place to the PS4; there are some modest boosts for various systems, likely thanks to the Golden Week holiday in Japan.
