The initial time a pal presses “join chat” they will have to download Fam, but each and every time right after that it is primarily seamless. The video quality is very excellent — even when using cellular facts. You also can use it for just a two-individual chat, but for that you’re likely greater off using FaceTime so you can pause it and navigate to other applications. Of system, the application is not great — you just can’t navigate everywhere else on your display or the chat will finish — unlike FaceTime, which lets you use any other application although conversing. And there are no notifications when somebody joins the group chat — which gets discouraging when you’re trying to get a group of men and women all to be in the chat at after. But in general, Fam is great for what it is — a super easy way to do group video chats from immediately inside of iMessage.
