To help celebrate the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest, attendees at the event will be the first to catch a legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Go. An epic Raid Battle will take place at the event in Chicago’s Grand Park and participants will need to have caught enough Pokemon in order to unlock the battle.
Once the battle is finished, Pokemon Go players will be able to start catching the same monster at gyms across the US.
Finally, the rest of the world will have a chance to team up and have legendary Raid Battles starting on July 23. The only downside to these legendaries is that they won’t be able to defend gyms when you get them, but you will have earned the prestige of catching one!
So far, Niantic has not divulged any secrets about what the first legendary Pokemon to appear will be.
